Wall Drain Pro® is designed to be an integral component in building a retaining wall. It can be used in a timber wall, natural stone wall, or most commonly, an SRW wall. You can easily cut the plastic grate to fit any 4”-8” height. It comes in 3 colors to match or compliment most wall building materials. Landscaping was once the art of landscape design and planting. Sometime just before the turn of the century, the idea of people spending more time outside and enjoying their entire property gained momentum. This trend led to the development of new products to create new spaces to support the function and aesthetics of modern outdoor living. Plants, patios, grills, kitchens, swim spas, pools, fire pits, fire tables and bowls, water features, decks, pergolas, and retaining walls are the contemporary vocabulary of modern landscaping.
Retaining walls have been a substantial part of this landscape evolution. Materials from railroad ties, to treated timbers, to boulders, to natural stone, and finally concrete Segmented Retaining Wall blocks (SRW), have been part of building retaining walls for many years. As “best practices” have developed over time, one of the key discoveries has been the need to relieve hydraulic pressure from behind a wall to prevent failure. Proper wall drainage is essential to preventing wall failure.
For many years wall products were improved and new wall materials were introduced. But as time passed not many drainage improvements were introduced into the market. The traditional solution for drainage in SRW walls consisted of using a concrete saw to cut an opening in the wall block. The result is a crude, unattractive hole in the wall. Recognizing this issue was the inspiration for Wall Drain Pro®.
